Mangaluru: Development work on the four-lane road from Pumpwell Circle to Karavali Junction in the city will be taken up by PWD for a duration of four months from Feb 15.Mangaluru city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that, as the construction work and route changes may cause traffic disruptions, the public is requested to cooperate with the police department.During this period, for public convenience, the roads from Pumpwell Circle to Kankanady Old Road-Kankanady Junction (leading into Mangalore city) and from Karavali Junction to Pumpwell Circle (leading out of Mangalore city) will temporarily become one-way roads, leading to potential traffic congestion. The public is advised to use alternative routes, the commissioner suggested.Vehicles heading from Pumpwell Junction to Karavali Junction will be redirected to travel via Kankanady Old Road. All vehicles entering the city from Talapady and Thokkottu should use the alternative route through Mahakalipadpu RuB, Morgan’s Gate, Koti Chennaya Circle, or the Mangaladevi temple route.Heavy vehicles, other vehicles, and KSRTC buses heading to Lalbagh and KSRTC bus station from BC Road should travel from Padil Junction towards Nanthoor. Heavy vehicles and KSRTC buses coming from Kerala towards the city should travel from Pumpwell Junction towards Nanthoor.Vehicles travelling from the inner parts of the city towards Pumpwell via Karavali Junction can continue as usual. Parking is prohibited on both sides of the Kankanady Junction-Pumpwell Road (Kankanady Old Road), Karavali Junction-Kankanady Road, Kankanady-Falnir Highland Hospital Road, Karavali Junction-Balmath Road, and Kankanady Bypass Road, the commissioner said.
