The road links the Nandpuri Underpass with the interior colonies of Jagatpura

Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has begun a fresh survey to remove encroachments from a sector road running parallel to Bharu Marg, with the aim of restoring its planned width of 80 feet. The road links the Nandpuri Underpass with the interior colonies of Jagatpura and is considered a key corridor for local movement across several neighbourhoods.Anand Sharma, DIG of JDA’s enforcement wing, confirmed that the authority has initiated a plane table survey to map the existing road width and identify illegal occupations along the alignment.“Presently, we are at the stage of conducting the PT (plane table) survey of the road. This survey would determine the number and exact sizes of encroachments, identify those that need to be removed, and provide details of the encroachers. Once the survey gets over, we will start sending eviction notices,” Sharma told TOI.Officials said the road is shown as 80 feet wide in the Master Plan, but years of encroachment and poor monitoring have narrowed several stretches. At some points, they said, the road has nearly vanished under illegal occupation. “It would take at least three to four months to complete the survey,” an enforcement official stated. The 1.5-km stretch serves dozens of nearby colonies and is expected to improve access between Nandpuri, Jagatpura, Malviya Nagar and adjoining areas once widened. Officials believe that clearing the road will reduce traffic pressure on other busy routes in the area. This is likely the sixth attempt by JDA in the past year to widen key roads by clearing major encroachments. The authority earlier removed encroachments on the stretch between Jharkhand Mod and Gautam Marg on Khatipura Road, and on Bharu Marg. While demolishing a few religious structures on Bharu Marg, JDA went ahead to secure a 24-hour internet ban order across Jaipur from the district collectorate. However, widening work has not begun at some locations because several identified encroachers secured court stay orders.Legal hurdles also stalled action on Vaishali Marg, Amrapali Marg and Colonel Hoshiyar Singh Marg, where residents earlier obtained Supreme Court stay orders.
