Injured guard Amit Chauhan at a tea stall in Lajpat Nagar

Jaipur: A security guard sustained grievous injuries after an unidentified intruder allegedly attempted to slit his throat during an alleged burglary bid at a house on Lajpat Marg in Jaipur Friday evening. The accused fled after the attack, and police have launched a search operation.According to police, the injured guard, Amit Chauhan, managed to stagger out of the house despite bleeding profusely and reached a nearby roadside stall, where he used his T-shirt to stop the bleeding from his neck. Residents rushed to help him and alerted the police.Ashok Nagar police SHO, Moti Lal Sharma, said it is suspected that the accused had entered the premises with the intention of burglary and attacked the guard after being confronted.The incident occurred at house number C-30 on Lajpat Marg. Preliminary investigations suggest that after coming face-to-face with Chauhan, the intruder allegedly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon in an apparent bid to eliminate the only eyewitness before escaping.Chauhan, who lives in rented accommodation in Moti Dungri, was deployed as a watchman at the residence of Pawan Kumar Rana through a private security agency, Evenshi Security.An eyewitness told police that the assailant attacked the guard inside the house before fleeing. “The guard somehow came out of the premises and sat at a nearby stall, pressing his T-shirt against his neck to stop the bleeding. We immediately informed the police,” he said.The injured guard was initially taken to a private hospital in C-Scheme and later referred to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors said his condition was serious.Police have registered a case and are probing all possible angles, including attempted murder and house-breaking. Forensic experts examined the scene and collected evidence, while CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being analysed to trace the suspect.
