Kanpur: Despite the monsoon remaining active across the Kanpur division, Kanpur Nagar experienced a largely dry day on Tuesday, with intermittent sunshine and cloud cover pushing the maximum temperature up by around 5 degrees Celsius compared to Monday.The weather observatory of Chandra Shekhar Azad University recorded the maximum temperature at 32.6°C on Tuesday. The minimum temperature, however, dipped to 24.5°C.High humidity added to the discomfort, with relative humidity recorded at 92%. The combination of moisture and intermittent sunshine made the weather sultry during the daytime. North-westerly winds blew at a speed of around 3.4 kmph, but failed to provide any significant relief from the humid conditions.City recorded on average rain fall in last 24 hours around 20.5 mm. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is likely to remain fully active across all districts of the Kanpur division during the next 24 hours, from August 18 to 19. Dense cloud cover and light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms are likely at several places. Isolated areas may also receive heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.For Kanpur Nagar, the sky is expected to remain generally overcast, with a 90% probability of one or two spells of heavy rain or thundershowers during the afternoon and night.CSA weather expert SN Sunil Pandey said increasing atmospheric moisture and the development of new weather systems were strengthening the flow of moisture into the region. He said cloudy conditions were likely to prevail across the Kanpur division from August 19 to 21.
