Kanpur: A police constable was arrested from Ayodhya by Bithoor police for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused, Ashwini Chauhan, was produced in a court on Monday and subsequently sent to jail.The accused constable was posted at a police station in Amethi. A woman from the Bithoor area alleged that Chauhan, a resident of Bilhaur who had lived in her house as a tenant until some time ago, trapped her in a romantic relationship and promised to marry her. She alleged that he continued to sexually exploit her and later refused to marry her after securing a job in the police department.The woman alleged that when pressure was exerted on him to fulfill his promise, he threatened to kill her and used casteist slurs.ACP Kalyanpur Dileep Kumar Singh said after the accused’s location was traced to Ayodhya, and a police team arrested him on Sunday night.
