Hisar: Sirsa police registered an FIR against a sub-inspector for allegedly making repeated phone calls to a fellow officer’s wife and threatening to kill her husband.Both the complainant’s husband and the accused are serving as sub-inspectors in the Karnal district police. Acting on the woman’s complaint, the Rania police station booked the accused under relevant sections of the BNS pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

According to the complaint, the woman received a call on her mobile phone around 7 pm on February 11 from an unidentified person who enquired about her husband. After she informed the caller that her husband was on duty, the caller allegedly continued to make repeated calls and threatened to dismember him. The woman claimed that her husband is currently posted in Karnal and is a member of the special investigation team constituted in connection with the Jat reservation case. She alleged that the caller is also a sub-inspector, a resident of Hansi, who is posted in Karnal and was recently deputed to the complaints’ branch in Sirsa district. She further told police that her husband and the accused officer knew each other for the past 7 to 8 years and previously worked together. Police said the accused sub-inspector will be joined in the investigation and called for questioning. The Karnal district police will also be informed about the matter, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
