Amritsar: The Counter Intelligence Wing in Amritsar claims to have busted a sophisticated drug trafficking module following the arrest of three persons and the recovery of 6 kg of heroin and 6 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ICE). The police also impounded two vehicles used for transporting the contraband, said director general of police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, in a post uploaded on X here on Monday.Investigations so far indicate that the accused were in direct touch with a Pakistan-based handler and collected drone-dropped drug consignments from the fenced border belt before circulating them across Punjab, he said.An FIR was registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Police officials said efforts are underway to trace both forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the network completely.
