Vadodara: An FIR for cheating has been registered at Gorwa police station against a visa consultancy for taking money from students and reneging on commitments to send them abroad. A teacher from Ahmedabad, Ritesh Sinha, filed a complaint against the consultancy’s director Nirav Vanand and one Priyanshu Shinde.Sinha told police he was looking for a visa consultancy agency for his students when he came across the agency run by Vanand and Shinde in Vadodara in 2024. He contacted the accused who assured him that they would get work permits for the students.Sinha then sent details of one of his students along with Rs 1 lakh to the accused in Jan last year. The accused first allegedly promised a work visa for Hungary but later switched to Italy and Greece. The accused also took payments to get work visas of a few other students for other European countries but none of them got visas.The accused allegedly gave bogus letters to the complainant. When Sinha realised he and his students had been duped, he approached police.
