Ludhiana: Police have launched an investigation after a luxury SUV belonging to a prominent local doctor was struck by a stray bullet in this city on Saturday morning.Dr Amarjeet Singh Rattan, owner of a private hospital on Shingar Road, discovered the damage to his Volkswagen Tiguan in this incisdent. A spent bullet casing was recovered from the scene, located in a dedicated parking lot opposite the medical facility. The driver first noticed the shattered windshield near the wiper blades and immediately alerted Dr Rattan, who subsequently filed a complaint with Division Number 3 police.Inspector Nardev Singh, the station house officer (SHO) for Division Number 3, confirmed that an FIR (first-information report) has been filed against unidentified individuals. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has been summoned to examine the recovered shell and the trajectory of the impact. The case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The incident occurred in a private lot used for hospital ambulances and staff vehicles.Despite the damage, Dr Rattan has told investigators he does not have any known rivalries and does not believe he was targeted specifically. “The preliminary probe indicates that a stray bullet hit the car,” Inspector Nardev Singh said. “However, the police will wait for the FSL report to confirm the exact nature of the incident.” Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the Shingar Road area to determine the source of the gunfire.
