In a surprising turn of events, chaos unfolded moments before Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s helicopter touched down in Begusarai. A wayward bull managed to penetrate the secured area, making its way to the helipad. Guards found themselves in a frantic attempt to corral the animal, with some even escaping the scene.

Begusarai: Security personnel had a torrid time just before the landing of CM Nitish Kumar’s chopper on the BIADA premises in Begusarai on Saturday after a stray bull managed to breach the high-security ring prepared for the CM’s programme and reach near the helipad. This triggered chaos and panic among the police personnel present there as the chopper carrying the chief minister was to land shortly afterwards.Police personnel on duty first tried to shoo away the animal by brandishing bamboo poles. However, it refused to budge. As the police personnel appeared clueless about the situation, they attempted to drive the animal away with the bamboo poles to clear the helipad area. However, the move backfired as the bull ran menacingly towards them, forcing the guards on duty to run for safety. Many of them took shelter behind the fire tender and the ambulance parked there to avoid its attack. The situation continued for a few minutes as the animal roamed freely in the restricted area.It was only after a while that the bull calmed down, and with the blaring sound of the ambulance siren, the area was cleared of it.According to officials, the helipad area had been secured well in advance with bamboo barricades and only authorised persons were allowed entry.NDA workers said the entry of a stray animal into a highly restricted zone raised questions about serious security lapses during the chief minister’s visit. “It was completely unexpected and posed a serious security threat when the chief minister’s helicopter was to land only a little later,” said a JD(U) worker. Several NDA leaders had already arrived on the dais when the drama took place.Nitish visited Begusarai and Sheikhpura during the last phase of his “Samriddhi Yatra” on Saturday.
