Kanpur: A passenger train travelling from Kasganj to Farrukhabad was halted for nearly two hours at Harsinghpur Gova railway station late Wednesday after a trader was allegedly stabbed by a eunuch following a dispute over money. The incident triggered a commotion as villagers surrounded the train and pelted stones at it, injuring several passengers. Fearing an escalation, the driver and guards also locked themselves inside the train.The incident occurred on the passenger train en route from Kasganj to Farrukhabad. Following the stabbing, enraged villagers reached Harsinghpur Gova railway station and prevented the train from moving. Alarmed, the eunuchs locked themselves inside a coach, prompting the villagers to hurl stones at it, which resulted in injuries to several passengers.Sunil Kumar alias Anoop, 26, a trader and a resident of Harsinghpur Gova village under the Maudarwaza police station area, had visited his aunt’s house on Wednesday. In the evening, he boarded the passenger train at Dariyavganj station for Farrukhabad along with a family member, Saurabh.After the train had travelled a short distance, a group of eunuchs on board began asking passengers for money. Sunil took out Rs 10 from a bundle of cash in his pocket and handed it over, but the eunuchs allegedly demanded more money, leading to an argument.The argument intensified, and one of the eunuchs allegedly stabbed Sunil in the hand, severing a vein. Injured, Sunil alerted his family members. By the time the train reached Harsinghpur Gova railway station at 8.37 pm, a large number of villagers had gathered there. Anticipating an attack, the eunuchs locked the coach from inside, while the villagers repeatedly tried to force it open.On being alerted, RPF Inspector OP Meena, along with the GRP inspector and Maudarwaza police, reached the spot. The RPF and GRP made repeated attempts to persuade the villagers, but they remained adamant about handing over the eunuchs to them.The villagers relented only after prolonged persuasion late in the night. Thereafter, the eunuch accused of attacking the passenger was taken to the GRP police station, and the train departed about two hours later.
