Kanpur: A state-level football player, Sikandar Verma, was allegedly crushed under a mini-truck in an accident at a transport company’s warehouse in Sachendi, Kanpur, late on Thursday night.The company employees admitted Sikandar to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. They informed his family. The family members reached the hospital and brought the body to their home in Cantt. They then informed the police.Sikandar, 35, a resident of Lalkurti Topkhana, Cantt, worked as a clerk at a transport company in Juhi Rakhimandi. He is survived by his wife Ruby, who is 8 months pregnant, elder brothers Sonu, Monu and Golu, and mother Leelavati.The family members said that Sikandar went to the warehouse of the company in Sachendi on Thursday. Late in the evening, a mini-truck crushed him there, after which his colleagues took him to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital and informed the family.Police sent the body for post-mortem on Friday. Cantt police station in-charge Arvind Rai said that a report will be registered and action will be taken on the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim’s family and the post-mortem report.
