Ranchi: The state has set a target of completing the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) exercise in all schools by Sept 30.Of the state’s 44,306 schools, 24,331 have registered for the 2026-27 assessment, while 12,613 have completed the exercise, officials said. Schools have been asked to finish registration by Sept 12 and complete the assessment by Sept 22. The remaining time will be used for verification, correcting data and resolving technical problems.“Districts have been asked to work with daily targets. Registration must be completed first, followed by the assessment and verification,” said Gaurav Verma, former nodal officer for SHVR.The drive follows Jharkhand’s strong performance in the 2025-26 national assessment. Jharkhand Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya in Rahe, Ranchi, secured the top all-India rank with a score of 99.20%. Bihari Balika High School in Hazaribag stood 21st with 93.30%, while UPG Middle School, Turisot, in Latehar ranked 64th with 90.40%.The national rating assesses schools on access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, handwashing facilities, toilet maintenance, energy conservation, greenery and other environmental practices.The 2025-26 national exercise recognised 191 schools for outstanding performance. Officials said the state’s focus this year would be on ensuring wider participation and improving the quality of data submitted by schools.
