Times News NetworkKanpur: The health department will launch a special campaign for the elimination of measles and rubella in the city from September 1.As many as 13 vulnerable hotspots have been identified for this purpose and special focus will be put on those areas during the campaign.The vulnerable hotspots are Jajmau, Gopal Nagar, Rawatpur, Geeta Nagar, Nankari, Shujat Ganj, Vijay Nagar, Dhobi Ghat, Anwarganj, Kanghi Mohal, Birhana Road, Faithfulganj, and BenaJhabar.The special campaign will be conducted on September 1, 3, 7, 8, 10, and 11.Chief medical officer Dr. Haridutt Nemi stated that measles is a highly contagious disease that primarily affects children. Key symptoms include high fever accompanied by a red rash, cough, runny nose, and redness of the eyes. In severe cases, complications such as pneumonia can occur and fever and a rash are also among the primary symptoms of rubella.
