Rajkot: A 25-year-old man from Ahmedabad was stabbed to death allegedly by his cousin following a dispute over playing songs at a family wedding in Limbdi taluka of Surendranagar district on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.The deceased, Deepak Solanki, was attacked near Khodiyar Temple on Utadi Road, allegedly by his 18-year-old cousin Aman Chavda. The Limbdi police have arrested the accused and registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103(1).According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Jayesh Solanki (54), the family had travelled from Vastral in Ahmedabad to Limbdi to attend a wedding on March 26. During a ‘dandiya’ event late on the night of March 27, an argument broke out between Deepak and Aman over playing songs. Aman allegedly took away Deepak’s phone from the DJ and insisted on using a different device, leading to a heated argument. The matter was, however, pacified by relatives at the time.Police said the next afternoon, the dispute turned fatal. Deepak had stepped out to a nearby shop when he was allegedly attacked by Aman with a knife. He managed to return to the house with severe neck injuries and was rushed to Limbdi govt hospital before being referred to Surendranagar, where he succumbed during treatment.Limbdi deputy superintendent of police Vishal Rabari said the accused was apprehended with in hours. Efforts are underway to recover the weapon used in the crime, he added.Preliminary investigation revealed that Deepak worked as a labourer and is survived by his three-year-old son. Further probe was ongoing to establish the sequence of events leading to the murder.
