Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party functionaries on Tuesday staged protests at Dhoomanganj and George Town police stations, demanding legal action and registration of an FIR against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, social media user Amit Bhardwaj and others for allegedly spreading misleading information about SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.“These complaints pertain to rumours alleging a connection and telephonic conversations between Akhilesh Yadav and Tinnu Yadav, who is lodged in jail in connection with the theft of donations meant for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir,” SP spokesperson Daan Bahadur Madhur told TOI.In their complaints, SP leaders alleged that the BJP MP’s social media posts were aimed at tarnishing Akhilesh Yadav’s image. They further claimed that such posts were creating social discord and an atmosphere detrimental to communal harmony.The party workers ended their sit-in protests after police authorities assured them that the matter would be examined.SP MLC Mansingh Yadav submitted a complaint at Dhoomanganj police station, while former SP candidate Sandeep Yadav filed a complaint at George Town police station.Similar complaints were also submitted online by city president Syed Iftekhar Hussain at Phulpur police station, district president Anil Yadav at Bahariya police station, and city general secretary Ravindra Yadav at Colonelganj police station.Copies of all complaints have also been submitted to the police commissioner.
