Prayagraj: A joint team of GRP and RPF on Tuesday arrested a fraudster identified as Ram Niwas (20) of Bikaner and seized counterfeit currency worth Rs 50 lakh from his possession at platform no 1 of Prayagraj junction. Police said arrested fraudster used to travel with wads of dummy notes resembling Rs 500 currency notes via trains from Delhi Paharganj to Kolkata, deceiving people by handing over these dummy note wads in exchange for real currency. He was booked under section 180, 182 and 328 (4) of BNS. The joint team became suspicious over his activities and took him into custody after noticing that he was carrying Rs 50 lakhs packed in clear, transparent plastic, consisting of 10 bundles (each containing 10 smaller wads resembling ₹500 currency notes).
