Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday accused Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of promoting anarchy to regain power.“Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are nearly on a mission to oppose the nation. By instigating protests in the name of Gen Z, they have vowed to spoil the atmosphere of the country,” Sarma told the media.Asked about reports that Congress leaders opposed the full rendition of Vande Mataram during Independence Day celebrations, Sarma said their conduct showed what could happen if the party returned to power.“Sonia Gandhi’s behaviour shows what the condition of the country will be if Congress returns to power by some mistake,” he added.Sarma accused the leaders of provoking protests and dharnas “for the sake of anarchy”.Sarma also targeted former Union home minister P Chidambaram over his “dimagi Naxal” remark, calling him a “pure Naxal”.“With Chidambaram calling himself ‘dimagi Naxal’, there should be an inquiry to find out if he knowingly didn’t take steps against Naxals when he was the home minister,” Sarma said.“I think Chidambaram is not just a ‘dimagi Naxal’; he is a ‘pure Naxal’ who wants anarchy in the country,” he added.Sarma also referred to the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh that killed senior Congress leader VC Shukla and others, alleging that Congress failed to eradicate Left-wing extremism. He credited PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah with making a “Naxal-mukt” India possible.
