Chennai: A 41-year-old woman sustained a neck injury after a stray manja thread got entangled around her throat while she was riding a scooter near Vadapalani on Thursday evening.Police said Krithika, 41, a homemaker from Nesapakkam near KK Nagar, was on her way to pick up her daughter from school. When she reached the signal junction on 100 Feet Road, a snapped manja thread flying across the road got caught around her neck. It cut into the skin and caused bleeding.Krithika lost balance and stopped her scooter. Onlookers and personnel from the traffic enforcement wing rushed to her aid and removed the thread from her neck. She was taken to a private hospital in Vadapalani, where she received treatment. Doctors said her condition was stable.The Ashok Nagar police initiated action to identify those responsible for flying kites using manja thread.
