Patna: Hundreds of skating enthusiasts hit the streets in Patna early Sunday to spread awareness about road safety and traffic rule compliance during a Road Safety Skating Marathon organised jointly by Patna Traffic Police and NCC Alumni Association ‘NCC Udaan’.The event began around 6 am from Marine Drive Golambar and covered the stretch up to LCT Ghat. Participants used the marathon to promote safe driving practices, caution on roads and adherence to traffic regulations.ADG (Traffic) Sudhanshu Kumar and Patna SP (Traffic) Sagar Kumar Jha flagged off the event after a felicitation ceremony honouring participants and organisers. Members of NCC Alumni Bihar and other dignitaries were also present.Speaking on the occasion, Jha said regular awareness campaigns along with strict compliance with traffic rules were essential to reduce road accidents. He added that involving youngsters in such initiatives helped carry the road safety message to a wider audience.In the 10km quad skates category, Md Faiz secured first place, followed by Adarsh Patel and Ankit Singh. Jay Shankar, Aaditya Raman and Haseen Ahmad finished first, second and third respectively in the 10km inline skates category.In the 5km quad skates event, Abhishek Singh emerged winner, while Aashish Gupta and Anvira Singh finished second and third. Yash Raj clinched the top spot in the 5km inline skates category, ahead of Shaksya Keshrvani and Aarav.Among those present were NCC Alumni Bihar state coordinator Dheeraj Kumar, Traffic DSP-II Anil Kumar, Traffic DSP-III Ashish Kumar and Traffic DSP-IV Paurush Agrawal. Former Bihar Industries Association president KPS Kesari, Arun Agrawal, NCC Udaan adviser Sanjay Goenka and Skate Zone Academy’s Ashish Kumar also attended the programme.
