Gaya: Six members of a family from Gaya, including two minor girls and a minor boy, were killed after their car fell into a 30-foot-deep gorge near the Danua forest valley under the Chauparan police station area in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand Saturday night.According to locals, the family had been travelling from Dhanbad towards Amas in Gaya to attend a wedding when the accident occurred.Shiv Kumar Manjhi, a resident of Tetariya village under Sawn Kala panchayat in Amas block, was driving the vehicle. He worked at Jharia colliery and was returning with his ailing father-in-law after medical treatment to Mauriniya village under the same panchayat. The family was also scheduled to attend a wedding in Gurua block.Sawn Kala panchayat PACS president Uday Yadav said, “The deceased were identified as Shiv Kumar Manjhi (43), his wife Ruby Devi (38), their daughters Soni Kumari (13) and Sohani Kumari (12), Krit Manjhi (60) and Krit’s grandson Prem Kumar (10).”“Now, only Shiv Kumar’s 14-year-old son, Ranjit Kumar has been left in the family, who is currently in Dhanbad,” Uday added.Bijar CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday expressed grief over the deaths of the six family members in the accident. He asked officials concerned to provide an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
