Uri, Feb 15: Volunteer Nambla on Saturday organised a programme titled ‘Hamare Heroes’ in the Nambla area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, honouring six local individuals for their contributions in different fields.
Among those felicitated was local journalist Zaffer Iqbal, who was recognised for his outstanding contribution to journalism, particularly for highlighting issues concerning the border area.
In addition, five young men Shaukat Ali, Mustafa Banday, Nisar Ahmad Pathan, Abdul Mannan Mir, and Irshad Ahmad Sofi were honoured for their humanitarian efforts. The youths had recently arranged around 15 units of blood for a woman from Nambla village who is currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura.
Media Advisor of Volunteer Nambla Javed Ahmad Mir, spokesperson Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Shakeel Ahmad Pathan, Naseer Ahmad Pathan, and other members of the group were also present on the occasion.
It is worth mentioning that Volunteer Nambla was established during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since been actively engaged in social work with the support of the local community.
