Noida: Six persons were arrested on Tuesday during a crackdown on gangs involved in bike thefts and mobile phone snatching, police said, adding that 16 stolen two-wheelers, 16 mobile phones, a lock-breaking tool, a country-made pistol, several knives and Rs 5,000 in cash were recovered after their arrests. A juvenile was also detained in the operation.Police conducted three operations in different parts of the city to trace the accused. In Sector 28, three men — Mannu Kumar (19), a motorcycle mechanic, Naved Khan (32), who works in a mobile repair shop, and Ashu Kumar (20) — were arrested. According to police, Mannu and Ashu would steal bikes, then use the stolen two-wheelers to target pedestrians and snatch their mobile phones. They would sell the stolen phones to Naved, who would strip them of their parts and sell them separately.Two motorcycles, one without a number plate, and 14 phones were recovered from them. All three have had cases registered against them previously in Noida, Delhi and Bulandshahr.In a separate operation, police arrested a 19-year-old and detained a juvenile from near Heart Beat City. Two mobile phones and a pistol were recovered from them.Police in Badalpur said they busted an interstate two-wheeler theft gang with the arrest of two men, Saif Ali and Shadab.An officer said the two chose the place from where they were going to steal the bikes after several reconnaissance missions. Afterwards, they kept the stolen vehicles in vacant plots and sold them off to passers-by at low prices.A total of 14 two-wheelers — 13 motorcycles and one scooter — were recovered after their arrest.Saif, too, worked as a mechanic while Shadab is involved in scrap dealing. Both have previous criminal cases registered against them in Noida, Delhi and Ghaziabad.
