Noida: A fire broke out at an electronic goods warehouse in a densely populated residential area of Hoshiyarpur village in Sector 51 on Tuesday morning. Firefighters said the blaze, which engulfed the warehouse within minutes, was brought under control after around two hours.Locals noticed smoke emerging from the locked warehouse around 7.30am and alerted emergency services. Fire officials deployed 16 units from different fire stations, and police personnel were also sent to the spot. Firefighters immediately began efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining houses and buildings.According to fire officials, the biggest challenge was gaining access to the locked warehouse. Firefighters cut through the tin roof of the structure to enter the premises. Teams then attacked the fire from different directions and continuously sprayed water on the warehouse and surrounding structures.Residents were evacuated from nearby houses as a precautionary measure, and firefighters also kept water jets directed towards adjoining buildings to prevent the intense heat and flames from spreading. The blaze was brought under control after nearly two hours.Residents, however, were left feeling on edge till much later in the day, with many stepping out of their homes after seeing the thick smoke and flames.

No injuries or casualties were reported as the warehouse was unoccupied at the time. A substantial quantity of electronic goods stored inside was destroyed, with preliminary estimates suggesting losses worth several lakhs.Fire officials said that while the official cause is yet to be determined, a short circuit is likely to have triggered the blaze. The cause will be confirmed following a detailed inspection.Chief fire officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said the exact extent of the damage has not been assessed yet. Fire and police teams are examining the premises and assessing the loss. The warehouse was inspected after the fire was completely extinguished, while further investigation into the cause of the incident is underway, the CFO added.
