Bengaluru: Ahead of elections to the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), the State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 27 wards after objections were received to the voter lists published on April 18.According to an SEC circular, the revision will cover all 24 wards of the Mahadevapura assembly constituency and three wards of the Gandhinagar assembly seat. Of the Mahadevapura wards, 23 fall under the Bengaluru East City Corporation, while Kasavanahalli falls under the Bengaluru South City Corporation. The three Gandhinagar wards—Chickpet, Cottonpet and Nehru Nagar—are under the Bengaluru Central City Corporation.According to the schedule for ward-wise SIR, the booth-level officers (BLOs) will carry out house-to-house enumeration between June 26 and July 4. The draft electoral rolls for these wards will be published on July 9, after which claims and objections can be submitted between July 10 and July 16. He claimed that previous surveys, particularly at Chickpet, found more than 30 voters registered at 10×15 sqft houses.“The predominantly commercial locality had cases of over 20 workers registered as voters in several shops. We found around 9,000 such voters and close to 50% of them voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” he said, alleging that BJP workers were involved in retaining the “fake” voters. Babu said Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao had also conducted training sessions for Congress workers ahead of SIR.
