Doda, Jun 28: Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal on Sunday inaugurated the district-wide Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme at the OPD Complex of the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC), Doda, marking National Pulse Polio Day.

Across the district, 57,524 children below five years of age received Pulse Polio drops through 507 Pulse Polio Immunisation Booths set up in urban and rural areas. Parents and caregivers turned out in large numbers to avail the free immunisation services for their children.

The DC administered Pulse Polio drops to several children and interacted with parents, stressing the importance of immunising every child below five years of age against poliomyelitis.

The Deputy Commissioner said immunisation is one of the most effective public health interventions and appealed to all parents and guardians to ensure that every eligible child receives the life-saving Pulse Polio vaccine. He lauded the efforts of healthcare workers, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, volunteers and field staff for implementing the campaign across the district.

Among those present were Chief Medical Officer Dr Vinod Sharma, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr SL Manhas, Block Medical Officer Dr Abdul Gafoor, doctors, paramedical staff and other officials of the Health Department.
