Kolkata: Speaking at an CII West Bengal annual day event, Singapore Business Federation (SBF, India Business Council) chairman Prasoon Mukherjee on Monday invited members of the CII state council to visit Singapore and explore possibilities of investment in Bengal. Mukherjee, also the chairman of Universal Success, said that there was a lot of business scope in Bengal that could be tapped. CII West Bengal State Council chairman Debashis Dutta said the organisation would look forward to attract businesses from Singapore.In his special address, Mukherjee said that cumulatively the USEL Group had invested and committed over Rs 8,200 crore in Bengal and promised to create over 50,000 jobs. The group was also exploring opportunities in green energy and AI in the state. USEL is setting up a data centre in the state with investment of around Rs 2,000 crore, he added. Besides, it is developing logistics parks in Uluberia and Kona, and an IT park in Sector V.Speaking at the event, Titagarh Group vice-chairman and MD Umesh Chowdhary said the company was setting up the country’s largest metro coach factory in Bengal, adding the group was supplying metro coaches to different Indian cities from its facility here. “We may be the face, but it was possible because of a strong MSME base which supplies a lot of components,” he said.Bengal Inc captains like Bandhan Group chairman CS Ghosh, Peerless MD Jayanta Roy, and Group CEO and MD of Tega Industries Mehul Mohanka — shared their experience of carrying out business in the state.BriefFormer Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Monday said that his proposed steel project was on track and would be completed in the next 18 months. He was present at the CII West Bengal Annual Day. “The construction has already started,” he added. The investment for the project was Rs 3,000 crore. The project would be implemented by Captain Steel.
