International table tennis sensation Aishwin Kaur has further cemented her status as one of India’s premier para-athletes, clinching gold at the 2026 National Deaf Sub-Junior and Junior Sports Table Tennis Championship.The Ludhiana-born star dominated the field at the Chandigarh Sports Complex in a tournament organised by the All India Sports Council of the Deaf. The victory marks another milestone in a career defined by resilience; Aishwin Kaur was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a rare neurological disorder, at just six years old.A Journey Beyond BarriersSince taking up the paddle in 2016, Kaur has rapidly ascended from local talent to a global competitor. Her father, Bikramjit Singh, noted that her dedication has allowed her to bypass traditional barriers to reach the international stage. “Her objective is to continue representing India at elite events, specifically targeting the World Championships and the Deaflympics,” he said. Kaur is currently undergoing intensive training in Gurugram to sharpen her game for the upcoming international circuit.Global AmbassadorAishwin Kaur is no stranger to the world stage. Having competed against global athletes in Malaysia, Japan, and Taiwan, she was accorded the high honour of being India’s flag bearer during the closing ceremony of the 2023 World Deaf Championship in Taiwan. Notably, her talent transcends para-sports.
