Prayagraj: Cops on Tuesday claimed to have made a three-tier security plan for Kanwar Yatra, commencing from July 30 to ensure safety and security for devotees in an organized manner.Designated routes have been identified, and arrangements for lighting and other basic amenities have been finalized. Robust measures have been put in place for the safety and convenience of Lord Shiv-devotees, popularly known as kanwariyas, covering areas from the Sangam and the Ganga ghats up to the Shastri bridge.The administration is vigilant and proactive in ensuring that Lord Shiv devotees—who carry holy water from the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati to Kashi Vishwanath—do not face any inconvenience. Arrangements for continuous patrolling along the Kanwar routes and ghats have been made. Drone surveillance is being deployed at 10 sensitive locations during the Yatra. Barricades and warning signboards have been installed near deep-water areas at the Sangam and the Ganga ghats.District Magistrate (Prayagraj) Manish Kumar Verma said that strict measures have been taken to ensure that shops selling eggs, meat, or fish remain closed along the Kanwar Yatra route.Municipal Commissioner ( Prayagraj Municipal Corporation) Seelam Sai Teja said that six major routes have been designated for the pilgrimage. Special arrangements are being made on these routes for convenience of the Kanwariyas. A control room has been set up to monitor the Yatra, and staff have been deployed accordingly. A dedicated Kanwar path has been developed to ensure smooth traffic flow at Shastri Bridge.These major Kanwar Yatra routes include the stretch from Shastri Bridge to the Varanasi Road and the route from Dashashwamedh Ghat to the Sangam Nose. Routes have been identified extending from Bakshi Bandh Road to Nagvasuki Dashashwamedh Ghat and from Lucknow Road (Phaphamau) to Sangam Nose. Key routes also include the path from Ford Road Crossing via Alopi Devi Temple to Daraganj Dashashwamedh Ghat and Arail Ghat. Major sites within the municipal limits—such as Dashashwamedh Ghat, Phaphamau Ghat, Sangam Nose Ghat, and Arail Ghat—have also been designated. Special attention will be focused on three prominent Shiv temples including Mankameshwar Temple, Nagvasuki Temple, and Padila Mahadev.The district administration has implemented traffic diversions. One lane of the Prayagraj-Varanasi Highway has been reserved for Shiv devotees.Special police pickets are being deployed outside Shiv temples on all Mondays (somvar) of the month of Shrawan. Drone surveillance of the ghats and temples is also being carried out on these Mondays, alongside CCTV monitoring at major Shiv temples.
