Prayagraj: A 70-year-old man, said to be mentally ill and a resident of Bashara village, on Monday climbed a high-rise water tank at Tatarganj village under the Ghurpur police station limits. The elderly man climbed the several-feet-high water tank without making any specific demands.He was safely rescued by a team of Ghurpur police with the help of locals and handed over to his family members. Police are now probing how the elderly man managed to climb the water tank. A group of locals, who spotted the elderly man climbing the stairs of the water tank, raised an alarm and informed the police.Locals said they had seen the elderly man roaming around the village and believed he might have climbed the water tank without realising the danger posed by its height.
