Mohali: Two unidentified persons fired shots outside a businessman’s house in Phase 10, Mohali, around 11.30pm on Monday. Police have filed a case and launched an investigation into the incident.The house owner informed the police control room following the firing, after which a team from Phase 11 police station reached the spot. Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the shooters.Police are also probing whether the firing was linked to an extortion demand or an attempt by gangsters to intimidate the businessman. There has been no official confirmation of any such motive so far.Mohali Police said the matter was being investigated thoroughly and further action would be taken based on facts emerging during the probe. However, police are not ready to divulge details.The incident assumes significance as the property of the businessman’s partner was also allegedly targeted in a firing incident a few days ago. Police are now examining whether the two incidents are connected.Incidentally, a firing incident was reported outside Hair Master Salon in Sector 80 on the day SSP Varun Sharma took charge.Police are investigating whether the incidents have any common links and are working to ascertain the identity and motive of the assailants.
