Patna: The Central govt has nominated Shirsat Kapil Ashok to the Board of Directors of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The announcement was made on Wednesday. Ashok currently serves as secretary of the dairy, fisheries and animal resource department, Bihar, and is also the co-chairman of Comfed.His inclusion in the NDDB board is expected to strengthen coordination between NDDB, Comfed and state-level agencies, enabling smoother implementation of policies. The representation is likely to align central schemes of the ministry of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying with Bihar’s local initiatives, ultimately boosting incomes and improving the living standards of cattle rearers in the state.Beyond regional gains, Ashok’s leadership is expected to contribute to national dairy-sector reforms. His administrative experience is seen as an asset in driving farmer empowerment, fostering innovation and expanding milk production through cooperative-led growth.NDDB, a key institution since the White Revolution, is expected to benefit from this appointment, which could help Bihar’s dairy cooperatives scale up under continued national guidance.
