Panaji: With panic setting in over gas supplies in the state, chief secretary V Candavelou chaired a meeting to accelerate adoption of piped natural gas (PNG). Candavelou urged Goa Natural Gas Pvt Ltd (GNGPL) and Indian Oil Adani to ramp up the installation of PNG domestic meters and the supply pipelines with a target of ensuring that all residents of 100 gasified housing societies switch over.“Govt appeals to people to switch over to PNG wherever the distribution network is there,” Candavelou told TOI. The chief secretary acknowledged that in some areas challenges regarding permissions remain and are being addressed through the respective departments. “We have told GNGPL to provide a list of places where meters have been installed and to get gas supply at the earliest to these homes,” said Candavelou.Govt issued a statement after the review meeting urging residents to avail the services of GNGPL, complete the formalities, and start availing the benefits of financial incentives such as waiver of registration fees. GNGPL is also offering referral incentives and other rebates. In North Goa, the GNGPL has been entrusted with PNG, while for South Goa, Indian Oil-Adani Gas Pvt Ltd (IOAGPL) has been given the same responsibility.Govt said PNG supply to domestic, commercial, and industrial customers across North Goa and Ponda continues without disruption.Residents of large housing societies in Tiswadi and Ponda areas are informed that PNG infrastructure and gas supply have already been made available in their societies, a govt official said.
