Chandigarh: In a major reshuffle in the top brass of its police force, the Punjab govt on Monday posted 1992-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sharad Satya Chauhan as special director general of police (DGP)-cum-chief director, vigilance bureau, replacing 1994-batch IPS officer special DGP Praveen Kumar Sinha.Special DGP Sinha has been posted as officer on special duty (OSD), law and order, and will be OSD till April 30. Sinha will take over as special DGP (law and order) from May 1 after the superannuation of special DGP, law and order, Arpit Shukla on April 30.The 2011-batch IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan has been removed as anti-gangster task force (AGTF) deputy inspector general (DIG), and the order noted that his posting would be “proposed subsequently” and his “services placed at the disposal of DGP, Punjab, till further orders”.A 1997-batch IPS officer, Arun Pal Singh, who was ADGP (jails), replaces Chauhan as managing director, Punjab Police Housing Corporation. Also, 1997-batch IPS officer R K Jaiswal, who is serving as ADGP (NRI), has been given additional charge of ADGP (jails).The 1994-batch IPS officer Ram Singh, who is serving as special DGP (technical support services), has been given additional charge as special DGP-cum-commandant general, Punjab Home Guards, and director, civil defence.
