Theatre lovers in the city witnessed a powerful stage performance as theatre group, The Third Bell, presented William Shakespeare’s drama- Othello- at the North Central Zone Cultural Centre on Thursday. The play was directed by senior theatre artist Alok Nair. Othello tells the tragic story of a brave general whose deep love for his wife Desdemona is destroyed by jealousy and manipulation. The character of Iago, driven by hatred, plants seeds of doubt in Othello’s mind, leading to a heartbreaking climax in which Othello kills his innocent wife and later ends his own life in regret. The performance saw impressive acting by the cast, with Yash Mishra as Othello and Abhishek Giri as Iago. Shalini Mishra as Desdemona and Upasana Tiwari as Emilia added emotional depth to the play. Shubhendu Kumar, Shivank Dwivedi and Nimish Gupta, also played their roles effectively. TNN
