Prayagraj: The Pratapgarh police on Thursday arrested a man on charges of killing a 42-year-old woman and her minor son inside their house on March 15.Bodies of the woman and her 14-year-old son were found inside their house on March 16. Police said the accused, Ranbahadur Maurya (30) of Para Hameedpur, confessed that he had an affair with the woman (who happened to be his aunt) for the past three years. He told police he had grown suspicious and resentful after she began speaking to other people. “I repeatedly asked her to stop talking to others, but she was adamant and deceiving me, despite the fact that I was bearing the financial burden of her entire family,” he told police. Police said when Maurya visited her house on March 15, he found her talking on the phone, which allegedly triggered a confrontation. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, killing her on the spot. Her son, who was sleeping nearby, woke up during the assault and tried to raise an alarm. Fearing being caught, Maurya killed him as well and fled, police added.
