Patna: Munger police suspended seven personnel, including the Muffasil police station SHO, for alleged irregularities in the handling of a liquor-related case and discrepancies in the registration of an FIR. With the fresh action, the number of police personnel suspended in connection with the case has risen to nine.The action was taken after an inquiry ordered by Munger SP Syed Imran Masood found lapses in the recording of facts during the registration of the case. The inquiry team examined CCTV footage from the police station, scrutinised official records and questioned personnel involved in the raid.Those suspended are Muffasil SHO Rajesh Kumar Sharma, constables Mannu Kumar, Prashant Kumar, Nilesh Kumar Paswan, Suraj Kumar and Vinod Singh Yadav, along with chowkidar Krishnadev Paswan.The latest action comes days after two sub-inspectors, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Nurain Ansari, were suspended on Sept 26 following a separate inquiry into the same case.SP said several officials posted at Muffasil police station were found prima facie involved in irregularities related to the liquor case. He said the inquiry focused on the circumstances under which the FIR was registered and the manner in which facts were recorded.Taking a strict view, the SP said negligence in the enforcement of Bihar’s prohibition law would not be tolerated and warned of stringent action against personnel found violating rules or compromising investigations.
