Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya returned to Patna from Singapore on Thursday to meet her parents, nearly a year after announcing she was “disowning” her family following an alleged verbal conflict. Lalu and Rabri Devi reached Patna airport to receive her.Rohini touched her father’s feet after stepping out of the airport and hugged her mother, who was seated in the car. Speaking to the media amid RJD workers, she said, “Papa ne bulaya hai…Maa-Baap se milane aayi hun (Papa invited me, so I came to meet my parents),” and requested them not to politicise her visit. She described it as “purely private”.Her visit comes nearly a year after she left her parental home following the family fallout. On Nov 15 last year, she posted, “I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family …This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do …and I’m taking all the blame.”In another post, she alleged she had been humiliated and abused and said she had left her parents and sisters “out of compulsion”. On Nov 16, she wrote, “May no daughter-sister like Rohini ever be born in any home.”She subsequently posted several comments on social media targeting her “enemies”, before the animosity eventually ended. The family tensions followed the RJD’s poll defeat in last year’s assembly elections.Rohini, who lives with her family in Singapore, had donated one of her kidneys to Lalu, giving him a new lease of life. Her return to Patna on Thursday marked her first meeting with her parents in nearly a year.
