Jamshedpur: A 39-year-old man was arrested in Seraikela-Kharsawan district for allegedly murdering his wife and concealing her body in an under-construction septic tank, police said on Thursday.The accused, Somra Hembrom, a resident of Swarnpur village under the Sini outpost in Seraikela police station limits, killed Sambari, 30, after suspecting her character.Seraikela-Kharsawan SP Manoj Swargiary said, “Hembrom confessed during interrogation that he first strangled his wife with an electric wire and then assaulted her with an iron strip before disposing of the body in a septic tank located on the outskirts of his house.”Hembrom has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and was remanded to judicial custody on Thursday, he added.The case came to light after the body of an unidentified woman was recovered from a septic tank at Khajurbagan in Sini on July 14. Based on a written complaint lodged by Assistant Sub-Inspector Harekrishna Mahato, police registered an FIR against unknown persons and launched an investigation.A police team led by Seraikela sub-divisional police officer Anubhav Bhardwaj, identified the deceased through physical, technical and circumstantial evidence. Hembrom was detained for questioned for questioning on Wednesday.During interrogation, Hembrom admitted to the crime. Based on his disclosure, police recovered and seized the iron strip, a towel used to strangle the victim, and the electric wire used in the murder.Bhardwaj said Hembrom killed his wife in the early hours of July 14. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and basis of the accused’s suspicion regarding his wife’s character.
