Patna: The second phase of training for polling personnel for Bankipur assembly bypoll was completed at Patna High School, Gardanibagh, on Thursday and Friday, with officials being briefed on election procedures and the operation of EVMs and VVPATs. According to a press release issued by the district administration on Saturday, the training was conducted for presiding officers, polling officers P-1, P-2 and P-3, and micro-observers.District election officer-cum-DM Kundan Kumar directed all officials and personnel engaged in polling and counting to discharge their duties impartially. Training for the EVM collection team will be held at the Patna Collectorate on July 29, while counting personnel will be trained on July 29 and Aug.

Meanwhile, the district administration has launched a voter awareness campaign to encourage maximum participation in the bypoll.Anganwadi workers, helpers and JEEViKA workers are conducting door-to-door outreach, while schoolchildren are holding rallies to motivate voters to exercise their franchise. Letters are also being sent to students, urging them to encourage their parents and guardians to cast their votes. The DM has directed the district education officer to intensify awareness campaigns through Electoral Literacy Clubs in schools.The administration also said campaign material used by candidates must be certified by the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) before being used for publicity. The commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs has also been completed at Bankipur Girls’ High School in the presence of candidates and their representatives.
