Hisar: The alleged insult of sarpanches by Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma in Jind sparked protests in the Tohana area of Fatehabad district, with members of the Haryana Sarpanch Association warning of statewide opposition if the singer did not tender an apology.Ranbir Gill, state president of the Haryana Sarpanch Association, said if Sharma did not tender a public apology, panchayats across Haryana would not allow him to hold performances in their villages.“The power of sarpanches is not limited to Haryana. They are present in every corner of the country. If he does not apologise, he may face resistance wherever he goes,” said Gill.Gill also alleged that the singer attended events in an inebriated state, which he claimed, led to disorder during performances. He further accused Sharma of allowing his supporters to create disturbances, adding that fans should be respected by artists. The association president claimed that Hemant, the sarpanch of Baijalpur village, was threatened and asked to delete a related video. He warned that any attempt to intimidate village heads would not be tolerated and legal action, including registration of an FIR, would be pursued against those responsible.Gill also urged the Haryana govt to take action against controversial songs by such artists, alleging that they sent the wrong message to the youth.MSID:: 128677656 413 |
