Shivamogga: The grave of Sanketh, a minor who was murdered last month, was found vandalised at a cemetery in Urgadur, on the outskirts of Shivamogga.Sanketh was killed on Feb 23, allegedly by a group of minors from another community. Tunga Nagar police arrested seven persons in connection with the case. Following the burial, his family constructed a memorial on March 23 at the Hindu Rudra Bhoomi near the Guddemaradi Malleshwara Temple.Sanketh’s father, Shivakumar, said he received a call Tuesday afternoon informing him that the memorial structure had been destroyed by miscreants.The incident drew strong reactions from local leaders. Shivamogga MLA SN Channabasappa called for an end to such a “vicious mentality”, while former home minister Araga Jnanendra criticised the Congress govt and warned that the law-and-order situation could spiral out of control if such acts continue.Tunga Nagar police registered a complaint based on Shivakumar’s statement. Shivamogga superintendent of police B Nikhil said an investigation has been launched. Police personnel have been deployed in the area and near the cemetery to maintain peace and prevent further tension, he said.
