Mandya: Kurubara Sangha taluk president KM Beerappa strongly condemned the incident in which miscreants allegedly assaulted Sangha district president ML Suresh and smeared black ink on him last week.Speaking at a press conference, Beerappa said that if anyone had objections to the decision to extend Suresh’s tenure for another year, they should have raised the matter within the association through proper discussion. Such acts of misconduct, he said, only damage the dignity and unity of the community.Beerappa said Suresh led the district board for the past five years without any allegations of malpractice. During his tenure, key initiatives were completed, including the construction of the Kanaka Bhavan guesthouse and Vinayaka Temple, and the resolution of a long-standing gate dispute at Kanaka Bhavan. He also contributed Rs 23.8 lakh from his personal funds towards purchasing land for the association near the Chikkamandya lakebed and ensured that taluk-level associations across the district were registered under cooperative regulations.Beerappa criticised former secretary Doddaiah and others for targeting Suresh over alleged membership issues while ignoring his development work.District general secretary Shashidhar challenged the accusers to substantiate corruption allegations with evidence. Following the incident, district directors Pandavapura Krishna, Sathanur Mahesh and Anasale Shivanna were suspended.
