Kanpur: Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey on Wednesday held a review meeting with Zone-3 corporators and officials of the engineering, revenue, health, water works, street lighting and horticulture departments to assess development works and address civic grievances.The Mayor said corporators would present details of works carried out in their wards over the past year, while officials would explain action taken on pending issues. She said the exercise aimed to ensure timely resolution of public complaints and improve civic services.Several corporators flagged persistent issues related to sanitation, drainage, encroachments, street lighting and road maintenance. Ward-92 corporator Awadhesh Tripathi highlighted a shortage of sanitation workers and equipment, alleging delays in door-to-door garbage collection and irregular field visits by streetlight maintenance staff.Ward-90 corporator Girish Vajpayee complained of delayed streetlight repairs due to a shortage of vehicles and alleged that a newly constructed ₹72-lakh road had been dug up for electricity pole installation. He also raised concerns over encroachment on a drain near Kidwai School, causing frequent blockages.Ward-77 corporator Akhilesh Bajpai said damaged drainage crossings and uncleared drains in Barra were causing severe waterlogging, while road construction had obstructed drainage channels. Ward-65 corporator Yogendra Sharma cited encroachments as a major hurdle to road projects in his area.Taking serious note of the complaints, Mayor Pramila Pandey directed departmental officials to resolve all pending issues on priority and ensure better coordination among departments to improve civic amenities and public service delivery.
