Times News NetworkKanpur: Police arrested Amar Singh, a murder accused carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and absconding for 10 years, on Tuesday night near Shambhua railway crossing underpass. A country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered from him during a search.DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary said that on the morning of May 30 2016, Sangram Singh, a resident of Biharipurwa village, was going to defecate when he saw a nude body of a youth lying in an open drain. Barra police reached the spot after receiving the information, sent the body for postmortem examination and registered a murder case against unknown persons.The police later identified the deceased as Ramlakhan Nishad, the 22-year-old son of Shri Krishna, a resident of Parauli village in Ghatampur.During the investigation, police found that Ramlakhan was murdered by Amar Singh, a resident of Ikghara village in Bidhnu, with the intention of robbery, after which he absconded. Police said he lived in Noida for 10 years while hiding his identity, and returned to the village with his family a few months ago. Bidhnu police received information that he had returned and began searching for him.Police arrested him near Shambhua railway crossing underpass on Tuesday. During questioning, he admitted that after the murder he threw the body in the drain in a naked condition, the police said. To avoid arrest, even after returning to the village, he kept his face covered while moving around.According to the DCP, 18 cases under murder, robbery, the Gangster Act, the Arms Act and other sections are registered against Amar Singh at Bidhnu, Barra and Ghatampur police stations.
