Nagpur: The penultimate day of the GH Raisoni Memorial Nagpur District Badminton Tournament belonged to Sairaj Nayse. The 16-year-old became the lone city shuttler to qualify for the title round of all three events he was competing in at Subhedar Hall on Saturday.After winning the U-19 boys singles semifinal with a close 16-14, 15-13 triumph over Devansh Thaokar in a 26-minute battle, Sairaj took 28 minutes to register a hard-fought 17-15, 15-12 victory over Mourya Khandelwal in the U-17 semifinal.Two hours later, Sairaj paired up with Arnav Nimbalkar and surprised the experienced duo of Aaryan Sadhankar and Gaurav Rege in straight games, 16-14, 15-13, to enter the men’s doubles final.

While Sairaj dominated the semifinal proceedings and will look to secure a hat-trick of gold medals, men’s singles top seed Rohan Singh, 11-year-old Raghav Niwarti and talented Sanvi Ghate registered victories in contrasting fashion to enter twin title clashes, respectively.Rohan had to sweat hard to clinch the men’s singles and doubles semifinals, respectively, while Raghav dominated the U-11 and U-13 boys singles semifinals.
