Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday gave final touches to the annual budget, and held important discussions with officials of the finance department. According to reliable sources, this time, the govt may have a special focus on education, sports, artificial intelligence and infrastructure development, in addition to making provision for new avenues in the fields of agriculture and the environment. It may be recalled that CM Nayab Singh Saini holds the finance department portfolio, and this is going to be his second budget in the Assembly. Last year, the govt made an outlay of Rs 2.2 lakh crore.Sources added that the annual outlay for the year 2026-27 could be around or a little over Rs 2.30 lakh crore. “This time, special emphasis will also be given to sports infrastructure, especially at school level, in addition to focusing on educational courses and facilities on the lines of the New Education Policy (NEP) and its replication in Haryana. Besides upgrading schools’ sports infrastructure, there is a proposal being mooted to carve out a sports city on the KMP stretch of DMIC as 1 of the 7 early bird cities projects. The sites were already identified. Besides this, the govt may come out with an offer to support meritorious students for higher education abroad and their facilitation as well,” said a source. “Haryana was projected as an example of development for the Punjab elections. Besides this, the govt has to keep in view the announcement made in the Union budget and its context for Haryana, and the role to be played by Haryana.
