Bhubaneswar: Monday’s IndiGo flight to Dubai from Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) was cancelled in view of the ongoing turmoil in West Asia. The airline made the announcement on Sunday itself, a day in advance. The Dubai flight runs three days a week — Monday, Wednesday and Friday. “The Friday flight operated since there was no tension then. As tension has escalated in Dubai, the airline cancelled the flight for a day,” BPIA director Prasanna Pradhan said, adding that the airline is yet to take a call on the Wednesday flight.“At least 120 passengers will not be able to fly on Monday,” an IndiGo functionary said, adding, “The situation is fluid and we are keeping a watch on the developments.”Since the airline announced the cancellation a day before, tickets will be refunded automatically.Fliers, though, are worried the cancellation could turn permanent. With IndiGo’s website refusing to tickets to Dubai from Bhubaneswar after end-March, fliers are apprehensive about a possible suspension of the Dubai service. UAE-based Odisa Samaj (OSUAE) also drew the attention of chief secretary Anu Garg to the issue.
