Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will launch the distribution of Rythu Bharosa financial assistance for the current kharif crop and address farmers from Shilpakala Vedika at Hi-Tec City on Tuesday.Though the Rythu Bharosa distribution programme was scheduled to be launched from a public meeting in Jagannadhapuram of the Madhira assembly constituency of Khammam district on Tuesday, the programme was cancelled following heavy rains for the past two days. The proposed venue of the public meeting turned wet and sticky and became unfit to hold the public meeting. As a result, the CM directed the officials to make arrangements at Shilpakala Vedika from where he would start the disbursement of the financial assistance to the farmers in the evening.Farmers from all districts across the state would participate in the event from their respective ‘Rythu Vedikas’ through an online facility.Earlier during the day, deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka and minister Tummala Nageswara Rao inspected the proposed public meeting venue in Jagannadhapuram, where it was planned to mobilise a lakh farmers. However, continuous rainfall over the past two days inundated the meeting venue. District officials informed the chief minister’s office (CMO) that they could not conduct the programme under the prevailing conditions.Bhatti said even the rain god seems to be blessing the farmer welfare and public welfare initiatives being undertaken by the Indiramma govt. The decision to postpone the event was taken to ensure that farmers, the general public, and Congress workers do not face any inconvenience. The deputy chief minister said what was initially planned as the inaugural event would now be organised as a grand concluding celebration titled the ‘Rythu Asheervada Sabha’ after the completion of Rythu Bharosa distribution. He said that the chief minister and the cabinet would take a final decision based on weather conditions and reports from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) once the rains subside.Speaking about the schedule, he noted that district authorities were already obtaining weekly weather forecasts from IMD. According to current reports, rainfall is expected to continue until July 3 or 4. To ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties, officials have been instructed to collect weather information for another week. Depending on the conditions, plans were being made to hold the meeting on July 6, 7, or 8.Bhatti said district ministers and public representatives were making extensive arrangements to ensure the success of the massive public gathering.
