Ranchi University vice-chancellor Saroj Sharma has notified the ‘Ranchi University regulation and standard operation procedure for minimum standards and procedures for award of Ph D degree 2026’. Under the rules, the minimum period for completion of PhD is three years and maximum is six years. A researcher can re-register themselves for another two years but there would be no further extension. Women and physically challenged persons with over 40% disability would get 10 years. The aspirant must secure 75% in four-year graduation course (honour/honours with research) and 55% in two-year masters course for being eligible to apply for entrance examination. Reserved category candidates would get relaxation of 5%. The enrolment would be through entrance examination and interview.BIT Sindri gets autonomous statusIn view of the directions from UGC, the Jharkhand University of Technology has recognised BIT Sindri as an autonomous institution. BIT has been granted academic autonomy till 2030-31 session. The UGC standing committee on autonomous colleges has approved the recommendation related to autonomous colleges.World photography dayCentral University of Jharkhand and Sarla Birla University held programmes to mark ‘World Photography Day’, focusing on photojournalism and visual storytelling.
